  • I don't go to the hair salon once a week and read magazines while hair professionals give me the work over. In fact, I only go to the hairdresser when I need a cut. And although I LOVE all of the pricy hair products that they try to sell me, my hair products secret is that I know where to get the same hair products for lot less money!...

It depends what specific products you have in mind, each brand has their good and bad. I haven't heard of the first shampoo but you can buy Redken definitely at Price Attack and I think also Hairhouse Warehouse, they're good for those elusive salon brand hair products! I live in Sydney too. My experience with some products though . - Tresemme, very good. Heaps of people use their shampoo/conditioner and I find all their hair products are cheap and reliable! Love their Thermal Creations range (heat protectant, volumising mousse, other heat activated products) and hairspray. - Garnier. Shampoos are nice, makes my hair smooth and smell fruity! Conditioners are TERRIBLE though, they make me lose out handfuls of hair in the shower! Their styling products are pretty bad. I've bought enough of them to know that half don't work. Their hairsprays are terrible so never touch those. Their smoothing and antifrizz products are ok. Love their Surf Hair Texturising Spray though it makes my hair frizzy! - Herbal Essences - my FAVOURITE shampoo/conditioner is Hello Hydration. Makes my hair very silky like no other brand and plus all their products smell great! Also have their leave in conditioner and its pretty good. - Bedhead. Expensive and their products are either hit or miss. Good - Hard Head Hairspray. Terrible - Cocky thickening paste, Maxxed Out hairspray. Don't work. - BigSexyHair. Expensive and bad! They draw you in with claims of getting beautiful sexy hair and their products don't even work.

Healthy hair comes from: your good genes, good hair care and all the healthy foods you eat daily from Mother Nature - not made by man. There's no way no one can prevent split ends. Less so, if you don't abuse the hair using chemicals and styling heating tools. Hair products are not made of glue to prevent, fix, prevent and reverse hair from split ends or hair damage. Natural hair means no relaxer, no chemical to straighten your hair out, no styling heating tools. The way it grows out your root, that’s the way you rock it. CARE: 1. Washing less often, builds the natural oil your hair needs, to get them smoother, shinier, silkier, softer. Man-made products are just temporary, until you wash them again, and at the same time washing off the natural oil your hair NEEDS. Hair products just absorb on your hair if they're dry, like a sponge. Shampoo & condition is all you need. Jessica Simpson have figured it out, she said she wash her hair every week. She used to abuse her hair, then start selling hair extensions because her hair starting falling from all the chemicals, but she woke up and found out how to keep her hair healthy AGAIN. When you wash your hair with one of those nutrient-rich shampoos or conditioners, most of the nutrients and active ingredients in the product don’t actually end up in your hair, they wind up down the drain… along with all the money you spent on the shampoo. It is HOW you use to style your hair or what styling tools that damage the hair, and what chemicals you're adding to the hair, not the shampoo or conditioner. 2. If you want your hair soft, you can briefly blow dry it, set them in curlers or pin curls them, blow dry, let them cool off, take the curlers &/or pins, finger tousle the hair or brush lightly to style. They will be silky & soft & shiny (for straight hair). 3. Cutting your split ends yourself, spend 5-10 mins. on a sunny day so you can easily spot them, using a 2" scissors, cut strand by strand, section by section, allowing new growth to take over. Then 2x a year, get a good hair cut. This won't speed things up, but it will make the hair look healthier while it's growing. Even healthy hair like mine get them, due to normal brushing & styling. DIET: If you've straightened your hair in the past, it may grow slowly or none at all. Google: "Foods for Healthy Hair" - Your hair may be the fastest-growing tissue in the body but, unlike the skin, it cannot repair itself. That is why getting the right balance of vitamins and proteins is imperative. Don't expect to look like you've stepped out of a hair commercial the day after you've changed your diet. It is likely to take at least three months before you actually see tangible results. Growing healthy hair doesn't come from a bottle or pills and hair products do not speed hair growth nor it will make your hair stronger. Any hair oil, is another form to keep hair moisturized, nothing more. If you're in HS, your hair & nails should be growing normally, and as healthily as possible, since you're eating healthy foods. But when hair isn't growing as fast, it's because they've been tampered with: chemicals, hair straightening, etc.

  • Some hair products like leave in conditioner just make my hair greasy. How will I know what will just help my hair and not make it greasy? And if there are any hair products that you recommend, post them.

First of all you don't need to put conditioner on your hair. UNLESS they've been processed, or if your hair is thick and wavy/curly. If you're using heating tools like straightening or curling iron. I have hair down to my knees and I don't use conditioner on my hair. I shampoo every 4th day, using Garnier for Normal Hair. If traveling, I briefly rinse with bottled water. I've tried Suave, Herbal Essence, Aussie (used those brands when my hair was permed or use color treated shampoo) plus conditioner, and my hair was fine. There are other reasons why hair is greasy: You're going to bed with damp hair, causes hair to get greasier. You have hair products buildup, like conditioner, mousse, gel. Avoid eating greasy foods. Find the cause then eliminate them.

  • What hair products (hairspray, shampoo, conditioner, gel, mousse, etc.) help your hair to grow faster? I want to grow out my bangs and I'm really impatient. Oh, and nothing super expensive that you can only get from a salon. Something reasonable that I can get at Walmart.

Sorry to break this to you - but there are no products that can actually make your hair grow faster! You can ensure you have a good diet with adequate protein. You can keep your hair healthier with products to prevent it breaking off (and perhaps giving the appearance of growing faster!) The Loreal Elvive Anti Breakage shampoo and conditioner at the supermarkets is not expensive and works well, and I would invest in a protecter (any brand - would be okay!) for blowdrying/straightening! Check out the reference in the source for more info whilst reading people's reviews.
